- After completing this course, students should be able to: • Define the fundamental concepts of drug delivery, organ targeting, therapeutic equivalence, Biowaviers and biosimilars. • Summarize the biophysiological and formulation factors affecting drug absorption. • Discuss specific formulation design in the pharmaceutical practice involving Biopharmaceuticals and Radiopharmaceuticals. • Differentiate between conventional, advanced and targeted drug delivery systems. • Describe relevant examples in the pharmaceutical practice involving cancer treatment and organ targeting as Gastroretentive delivery systems and colon targeting systems and others • Describe the different types of new drug delivery systems.
Course objectives :
The course deals with the fundamental principles of therapeutic equivalence, new drug delivery systems and targeted drug delivery for conventional drugs, biopharmaceuticals and radiopharmaceuticals.
