Course assistant :

The course of forensic pharmacognosy aims at providing the pharmacy student with sufficient knowledge concerning the investigation of a crime scene and intoxication caused by natural toxins. In addition, methods related to examination and identification of the collected evidencesare provided as well.

Course objectives :

  1. Abused poisonous plants, the nature of their toxic principles, the symptoms of toxicity and way of treatment.
  2. Some crime scene evidences such as animal and human hairs, textile fibers, toxic fungi and mycotoxins.
  3. Recent technologies suitable for identification of illicit drugs and trace evidence. Examples of these methodologies or technologies include GC, GC-MS, HPLC, capillary electrophoresis, etc.
