Under the auspices of Prof. Ezzat Hassan, the Dean of faculty of Applied Health Sciences Technology, the Nutrition Department completed the “Healthy Campus Initiative 2019-2020” which was launched in the last semester. The coordination of this initiative was managed under the supervision of Prof. Mervat Osman, the faculty Vice-Dean and the Head of the Scientific Committee, Prof. Essam Goniem, the Head of Nutrition Department as well as Dr. Amany Salama, Dr. Doha Magdy and Dr. Saly Salah, the lecturers in the Nutrition Department. On Monday, 9 December 2019, a number of four-year students in Nutrition Department provided a satisfactory explanation of the initiative’s logo “Choose + Control + Convert= Change” and distributed leaflets to raise nutritional and health awareness as well as get them apprised of the basic nutrients, their sources and functions. The event also included distributing healthy snacks of fruits and vegetables to emphasize the importance of promoting mindful eating habits. In addition, they used models of dietary guidance systems and healthy eating; traffic light system and healthy eating pyramid.
