To enable students to: Identify the Abbasid , Tulunid Architecture & The Fatimid Architecture. Identify the Ayyubid Architecture, the Bahri Mamluks Architecture, the Burji Mamluks Architecture and the Ottomans Architecture. Identify the renaissance in throughout its various phases in Europe, special emphasis is on Italy, France, England and Germany.
Course objectives :
This course is about understanding Islamic Architecture: introduction to the philosophy and the life style of people in this era and its effect on architecture, the course is to study the urban planning, and the architecture of this era, in both the residential and religious buildings in several periods from the Abbasid period to the Ottoman Turks, with emphasis on the architecture of Islam in Egypt. The course will also introduce the students to the renaissance and the post renaissance in Europe discussing the renaissance architecture in Italy, France, England and Germany.
