At the completion of this course, the student will: Dental office personnel will learn approved infection control techniques. Describe the appropriate infection control procedures that should be used. Discuss the implications of cross-contamination. Given a case study, use problem-solving skills to develop modifications that would result in an appropriate infection control protocol Know the etiologies of oral fungal infections. Recognize the various clinical manifestations of oral fungal infections. Be able to manage fungal infections. Understanding viral infections such as herpes, shingles, papillomavirus, herpangina, the Epstein-Barr virus and others

Course objectives :

This course focuses on the study of the microorganisms relating to infectious diseases and their prevention. An emphasis is on the practical application of information to dental laboratory technology techniques and aseptic procedures.
