Tamer Elsawy is currently a Lecturer in Tourism Department in the Faculty of Tourism and Hotel Management, Pharos University in Alexandria (PUA). He has obtained a Master and PhD Degree in Tourism Planning from the University of Alexandria.
In addition to his academic experience for about 5 years in PUA, he served as Assistant Manager at Four Seasons Hotel, Alexandria, Egypt, and Baku, Azerbaijan for about 8 years, where he gained a lot of experience in dealing with different nationalities and cultures as a part of such a multi-national company. He was also responsible for training and people development in his department at FS Hotel for more than 6 years which gave him strong coaching skills.
Currently, he is a trainer at the Education Development Center (EDC) of Pharos University. He is the faculty general academic advisor, the official spokesman who is responsible for updating its website, the coordinator of the faculty annual international conference with the participation of more than 30 countries, member of Quality Assurance Center (QAC), and the international relations coordinator of the faculty.
Among his tasks as an international coordinator, he drafts memoranda of understanding with other entities and higher education institutions; he detects funding opportunities through local, national and European funds; he leads the process of submitting new project proposals. Besides that, he organizes conferences, seminars, workshops and meetings with internal staff (research, academic and administrative staff), national agencies and managing authorities, partners and any other relevant stakeholder involved at local, national and international level. He has collaborated with academics within the university and in other countries such as Finland, Italy, United Kingdom, Ireland and Turkey to build and strengthen relationships and gain successful grants through research and enterprise activities.

I am associate professor of Tourism Studies Department at faculty of tourism and hotel management Pharos university since semester spring 2013/2014 as a supervisor for tourism department , and since spring 2016/2017as vice dean for education and students affairs I have 24 years of experience in teaching specialized subjects of travel agencies , airlines , introduction to tourism and tourism marketing for high education level. My skills and knowledge are employed to teach sustainable tourism with the necessary course design and adaptation. My passion in culture and travel made it possible for me to communicate with different cultures and succeed to cooperate with exchange-teachers of different cultures. It also helped me to perform the duties of a member of a research group working with different nationalities of colleagues and students of Innholland University and Senghore university from Holland, France, and African countries with success. I also contribute with my knowledge and experience in tourism sustainable development projects in Alexandria.

I am associate professor of Hotel management Department at faculty of tourism and hotel management Pharos university since 2015 as an academic coordinator of hotel management department , and since 8/2020 as Act as of Hotel management department. I have 16 years of experience in teaching specialized in academic field in a variety of different roles (from a demonstrator to Associate professor, I have taught various hospitality courses, particular the practical courses such as food and beverage (restaurant, culinary art) room division (front office, housekeeping), and resort management.
