At the end of this course the students will be able to: 1. Define most of pharmacological terms 2. List different routes of drug administration and the suitable dosage forms for each route 3. Describe pharmacokinetics including absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion of drugs, 4. Describe pharmacodynamics and discuss the adverse drug reactions and interactions. 5. Classify and Discuss the effect of cholinergic and anticholinergic agents, sympathomimetics and sympatholytics, 6. Identify the effect and adverse reactions of drugs affecting skeletal muscle and antispasticity agents 7. Classify and Discuss the effect and adverse reactions of drugs used to treat pain and inflammation including opioid analgesics, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory agents 8. List and discuss drugs used in certain cardiovascular and respiratory disorders 9. List and discuss drugs used in certain gastrointestinal disorders. 10. List and discuss drugs used in certain central nervous system disorders. 11. List and discuss drugs used in certain endocrine disorders.

This course reviews pharmacology as it is relevant to physical therapy practice. Basic mechanisms of drug action are described followed by the drug benefits and detrimental side effects relevant to specific disorders. Focus is on the impact of selected drugs on patient treatmen
