After completing this course, students should be able to: • Recognize prevalence, aetiology, signs and symptoms of different conditions frequently encountered in community pharmacy. • Describe over-the-counter ingredients that are commonly used in the Egyptian market and select the appropriate OTC medications for patients with minor ailments. • Use Pharmacruise computer program to manage the pharmacy. • Establish patient-specific therapeutic outcomes and evaluate all rational therapeutic plan using SOAP strategy to determine the best pharmaceutical care plan for patients, including use of sound clinical judgment when data are incomplete, articulate and justify patient-specific recommendations, determine the most appropriate dosing regimen and/or drug delivery system for the patient, appropriately utilize clinical literature to provide an evidence-based approach to patient-centered pharmaceutical care, identify patient-specific monitoring parameters for therapies.

Course objectives :

The course integrates the pharmaceutical, clinical and social sciences relevant to community pharmacy practice: It enables students to develop the skills that they will need to identify and solve problems in a range of different health-related situations they may encounter while working in a community pharmacy. It provides a systematic and comprehensive approach to assessing and monitoring drug therapy in order to identify and solve drug-related problems and to ensure that all therapeutic objectives are being achieved in the context of pharmacy primary care.
