The British Council-Pharos University Partnership
The British Council has signed partnership agreement with Pharos University in Alexandria. This collaboration will focus primarily on IELTS, with a monthly test session on the university campus from August onwards, potentially opening doors to more opportunities for their 12,000+ student base. The university sees this as a means to improving the English language capability of their students, and may consider making IELTS an exit test for some undergraduate programmes with this in mind.
In addition, Aptis will be adopted for scholarships this year, with the potential to extend to all admissions next year – they have an annual intake of 5000 students. The agreement also includes special deals with the Teaching Centre for PUA students and staff.
Pharos University President Professor Mahmoud Mohyeldin commented at the signing ceremony: “We are proud to have the relationship with the British Council, and looking forward to more cooperation.” Jeff Streeter added: ““I am delighted that this agreement gives the opportunity for more students Alexandria to take Aptis or IELTS, thereby proving their English level and improving their opportunities for further study.”
