Course objectives :

1- Upon completing the course, Student will learn:
– Spreadsheet
Manual versus electronic spreadsheet, What is Excel tool?, Exploring Microsoft excel, Basic workbook skills, Formatting and customizing data, Formulas, functions and named ranges, Referencing, Editing multiple worksheets, Sorting, Page properties and printing, What-If analysis, Charts.
– Databases
Introduction to database concepts and access, Access concepts, Terminology and usage, Database design and table operations, Table formatting, Relationships, Querying a database, Forms, Reports.
– Hypertext Markup Language
HTML elements, HTML document structure, HTML document naming scheme, Basic of inline and Block-level tags, List and character entities, Images and links, Tables, Search engines.
2- Student will be able to:
• How to enter and format the three types of spreadsheet data: numbers, text, and formula.
• Edit text, values, formulas, and pictures and move and copy data.
• Work with absolute and relative references, and work with ranges, rows, and columns.
• Work with simple functions, basic formatting techniques, and printing.
• Create and modify charts, and learn how to manage large workbooks.
• Perform “what-if” analysis.
• Design and create databases
• Work with tables, fields, and records, sort and filter data
• Create table relationships to efficiently retrieve data from multiple tables
• Create queries to find and locate data by using query criteria.
• Design forms to manipulate data, and develop reports to display data in attractive and useful layouts.
• Combine basic HTML elements to create Web pages.
• Understand how to use HTML tags and tag attributes to control a Web page’s appearance.

Course description :

– This course tends to introduce Year 1 students of all university’s faculties to the concepts and terminologies of spreadsheet, database, database management systems, and the concept of hypertext markup language (HTML).
– It practices some computer applications in the laboratory such as Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, and HTML.
– It gives students a practical experience on developing projects related to the specialty of each faculty.

• Final Practical: 30%
• Midterm Exam : 10%
• Final Exam : 20%
