To enable students to: 1- Understand the concept of column\’s buckling, compact and non-compact sections. 2- Design laterally unsupported beams & beam-column. 3- Identify the concept of design for cold formed sections. 4- Know elastic-plastic behavior of different steel members . 5- Introduction to Plastic analysis and design of beams using load resistance factor design (LRFD).
Course objectives :
Identify buckling of different steel elements . Define compact & non-compact sections . Identify design of laterally unsupported beams . Identify design of beam columns . Identify design of built-up sections . Define the cold formed sections .
