Understand the basics of designing reinforced concrete structures and steel structures. Design some components of RC structural systems and components of steel structural systems.

Course objectives :

This course is an introduction to the principles, and methods of designing reinforced and pre stressed concrete structures. The second part of the course is about steel structures, by the end of this course the student should be able to design small steel structures, identify steel sections used in his/her design, connections, and roughly calculate forces affecting this structure.
