By the end of this course students should be able to: 1- Know the history of modern Egypt which is described as an important era in the Egyptian history. 2- Form a historical and political database that can help him later in translation. 3- Highlight how the political and social life reflected on literature during this period. 4- Recall historical,political and literary terminology when needed for translating similar topics.

Course objectives :

This Course introduces students to the history of modern Egypt starting from the reign of Muhammad Ali until the end of the 20th century. The course includes the political and social history of modern Egypt as well as the literary movements and prominent figures of this period.
