After completing this course, students should be able to: 1. Characterize business, society, and government and explain their Interrelation ships. 2. Differentiate the market and nonmarket environments and state how they Influence each other. 3. Explain the nonmarket society and government environments and how they affect business. 4. Discuss the role of business and its managers, including stakeholders 5.Understand how business decisions affect society as a whole. 6. Compare and contrast corporate social responsibility, citizenship, and social performance 7. List the reasons for and against corporate social responsibility 8.Characterize the three levels of corporate social responsibility 9. Describe the five stages of corporate citizenship. 10.Analyze impacts of various organizational-stakeholder relationships. 11.Analyze organizational issues from multiple stakeholder perspectives. 12. Classify the varying levels of responsibility of stakeholder groups. 13.Discuss the changing economic, political, social, and cultural forces and their influences on business and society. 14.Describe and apply key aspects of Business and Society – Corporate Social Responsibility concepts in real life business settings 15.Identify and explain issues involved in Business and Society – Corporate Social Responsibility and conduct necessary research to address these issues 16.Analyze Business and Society – Corporate Social Responsibility problems and develop proactive and / or reactive solutions 17.Apply critical thinking skills through Business and Society – Corporate Social Responsibility case analysis
Course objectives :
This course intends to give students a general introduction to the relationship between business and society. Further, this course provides a conceptual and practical overview of the role of business in contemporary society. We explore the social context of economic systems, examine the concepts of business ethics and corporate legitimacy, and look at responsible management in today’s business world. Particular emphasis is placed on understanding how issues addressed in the course relate and can be applied to the real world of business and the social environment. In addition, this course provide students with a deep understanding of business and society and practical skills to develop Corporate Social Responsibility plans . Students also examine broad forces in business, society, and globalization, and look at how stakeholders can influence the destiny of both business and society.
