a.The course is designed to introduce/illustrate the importance of phytochemicals which came from natural plant food and its effective role on preventive dangerous diseases . b. Describe the importance of antioxidants in controlling free radicals which accumulate as a result of oxidation process . c. Discuss how do phytochemical work , how to get more and the kind of phytochemicals in fruits and vegetables . d. Discuss the impact of each phytochemical on health e. to explain the relationship between phytochemicals and functional foods and illustrate is it food or drug ?

Course objectives :

This course is focuses on the natural pigments found in plant food which called phytochemicals , and how it could affect consequently the nutritional and health status of the person and community. Study the complementary and overlapping mechanisms of action in the body . These protective plant compounds are an emerging area of nutrition and health . So the course will provides the basic phytochemical knowledge about the natural source, classification, and preventive role in the body .
