MEAE 101 – Applied electrophysiology
Dr.Amna said Mohamed
Course lecturer :
- Eng Sheren Shawky
- Eng Karem Saied
- Eng Jousef Adel
Course assistant :
Students will be able to: • Recognize the interaction between medical devices and electrically excitable tissues of the body. • Understand the electrical properties of biological cells and tissues. • Identify the voltage change and electric current of single ion channel proteins. • Recognize the measurements of the electrical activity of neurons and action potential activity.
Course objectives :
This course will introduce the students to the theoretical basis and applied design principles for medical devices and instrumentation that interact with electrically excitable tissues of the body as heart, brain, eyes and muscles. In addition, the student will study the flow of ions in biological tissues and, in particular, to the electrical recording techniques that enable the measurement of this flow. Also, this course involves the electrical properties of biological cells and tissues.
