By the end of this course the student must be able to:
1- Explain and differentiate divisions of management and the key principles in each
2- Analyze the management cycle
3- Compare and contrast key management functions
4- Identify key concepts and constructs inherent in management theory
5- Apply theoretical frameworks to workplace scenarios 6- Examine roles, functions and accountabilities within organizational structures
7- Understand the role of personalities in impacting work performance
Course objectives :
This is an introductory course concerned with studying the principles of management at healthcare settings. Key principles of practices of management will be taught in this course. Participants will be exposed to concepts that reflect management concepts, divisions, challenges, and functions, e.g., planning, organizing, leading, and controlling. The content of this course applies to different kinds of healthcare enterprises, e.g., hospitals, public health organizations, health systems, physician clinics, for-profit firms, not-for-profit enterprises, etc.
